Hispanitas – Flower Power

If you think flowers are just for spring, get ready to see fall burst into bloom!

What goes around comes around, and Hispanitas has created a stunning – or shall we say groovy – collection of fall boots, shoes, and coordinated bags that borrows the best of stunning 60s-inspired vintage style, updated for now.

This season’s block heel is shown off to perfection, with fall must-haves like brocade, velvet, tapestry, and dark florals. Colours are rich and moody, with midnight blacks, deep purples, and luscious burgundies, sparked with touches of tarnished metallic and bursts of silver, white, and yellow. This radical chic collection is not for the faint of fashion!

Every piece in the collection is utterly unique and will make you want to strut your stuff. A showstopper knee-high boot in dark floral that would make a rock ‘n’ roll queen swoon. A shimmering burgundy brocade bootie with a patent heel to bring out your inner glam rocker. A pointed black pump with a spray of white flowers across the chunky heel is boldy romantic. Silver crushed velvet booties that Bowie would have coveted.

Kitsilano in the 1960s was the hippie capital of Canada, and you can relive those heady days – or experience them for the very first time – at the Museum of Vancouver. The permanent collection features exhibits like Neon Vancouver | Ugly Vancouver, showing off the vibrant signs that gave the city its look from the 1950s through the 1970s. And the 1960s-1970s “You Say You Want a Revolution” rooms invite visitors to experience the time period firsthand – even visiting a hippies’ communal house where you can listen to local rock bands, leaf through old issues of The Georgia Straight, and try on macramé clothing.
